Pillowcases for Kiwanis’ Sweet Dreams Project

  • Contact: Robin Bowers

  • Pillowcases are donated to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland to help patients feel more comfortable during their stay.

  • Fabric is donated by Kiwanis. Our guild cuts the fabric into kits, which are available at business meetings.

  • Drop off completed pillowcases at meetings.

  • Kits will also be cut during Sew Days—help is always welcome!

Sizes:

  • Body: 27" x Width of Fabric (WOF)

  • Cuff: 9" x WOF

  • Flange: 2–2½" x WOF

➡️ Use the Burrito Style Pillowcase method (instructions can be found online).
➡️ Please report the number completed in the Donation Book and log your items and hours.

In December 2024, we donated 11 quilts and over 100 pillowcases to Doernbecher—thank you for helping us continue this tradition!

Bowl Cozies for Empty Bowls

  • Event: Early December

  • Contact: Maggie Huddleston

  • Bowl Cozies will be sold at the Empty Bowls event supporting Florence Food Share.

  • Cozies can be any size but must be 100% cotton (safe for microwave use).

  • Instructions are posted on our Facebook page under Files.

  • We will host a Sew Day this fall to make cozies together.

Christmas Stockings for Roseburg Veterans Hospital

  • Each December, we donate handmade stockings to Veterans at the Roseburg Veterans Hospital. We typically provide around 75 stockings each year.

  • To avoid the last-minute rush, we begin working on stockings in July.

  • Contact: Carri DeBolt for the stocking template.

  • Use your own fabric and style, or request fabric from our stash.

This project is a wonderful way to show appreciation and spread holiday cheer to those who have served.

Thank you for sharing your time, creativity, and sewing skills to support our community and beyond!
